This is a Vintage Mexican Folk Art Alebrije Jimenez Style Wood Carved Animal Oaxacan Dog.
Measures 9 3/4" long, from tip of nose to tail.
A wonderful vintage dog wood carving in the style made popular by Jimenez.
Unmarked and unsigned.
We purchased from an Estate Sale here in Virginia, and have no history on this or the age of this
MEASUREMENTS:
9 3/4" long.
4 1/4" tall to top of back at hind legs
5 1/4" tall to tip of tail turned up.
4 1/2" tall to top of head.
DETAILS:
Legs are stationary.  Ears and tail can be pivoted/turned.
Stands well on his own feet and is stable standing.
Carved to be a straight body with a curved/turned head.
This is a red orange color with black painted spots.
There is fading in the red orange especially on one side of this piece.  Looks to be faded by the sun.
His tail sticks out slightly from his body.  It does not push in or out.  It does move side to side.
His ears move also.
Made of wood, nails, and dye.
