Vintage Mexican Pottery Vase Bird Butterfly Jorge Wilmot
Artes Folklorico presents a vintage Mexican pottery vase by the renowned, Jorge Wilmot.
Although born in Mexico, Wilmot trained in Europe and was a visionary who combined both European and Asian techniques of production.
He set up a studio in the late 1950s in Tonala, Jalisco, Mexico.
Wilmot became famous worldwide for his stoneware pottery.
This vase is a perfect example.
The vase features a beautiful shape with a wonderful bird and foliage on one side and a butterfly and foliage on the other.
On one side along the bottom the piece is signed with Wilmot’s characteristic, ‘W.’
The vase is in excellent vintage condition (see photographs).
The piece measures 7-inches in height, 4-3/4 inches in width and 3-1/2 inches in depth.
A great find for anyone that collects vintage, old or antique Mexican pottery, ceramics, folk art, vases, stoneware or the amazing pottery made by the celebrated Jorge Wilmot.
