Description
This exceptional bas relief hand carved wood panel from a midwest estate is approx. 7 3/4" by 10" and is singed RAMIREZ in the lower left as shown. It dates to the 1930s or 40s and depicts a fighter with rifle and bandolier. The Mexican revolution lasted from around 1910 to 1920, but even though the dictatorship ended and a constitution was drafted in 1917, the violence continued into the 30s. Ramirez was one of the original followers of the master carver Roberto de la Selva. The panel is expertly, deeply carved with great attention to detail and there is very little wear to the original finish as shown. Please view all of the attached photos for an accurate representation. I am currently listing a few more bas relief panels by the same artist from the same Illinois estate. Great care will be taken in packing to ensure safe arrival. Payment must be received within 24 hours of purchase or acceptance of offer.
