PORCUPINE Alebrije Hand Painted Wood Carving Folk Art Oaxaca Mexico

Description

Alebrijes are Mexico's fantastic, imaginative figures - they are often called "creatures of the dreams and the imagination".  They are hand-carved and hand-painted  of copal wood in Central Mexico where I travel annually to select affordable high quality and imaginative pieces. This great porcupine is  bright orange with white dot-work and  mostly white detailing.  The quills are sea green with blue and yellow, and quills are glued.  This porcupine measures approximately  3 1/4" long and 3 1/4" wide.  This very cute porcupine would be a wonderful gift or a great addition to any collection.
