    Description

    Oaxacan Mexican Folk Art Lion Wood Carving Signed by the Artist.  Unfortunately, I can't make out the signature.  There are the initials J.C. painted in white letters, but there is also a name etched into the belly.  He measures 5 inches tall and about 8 inches across.
    I am calling this Oaxacan but some are of the opinion that it might be African folk art since the tail is one piece and not detachable. The original owner ran a travel agency and went all of the world collecting unusual art pieces.   Whether it is Mexican or African, it is a wonderful piece if you are a collector of this type of art.
