Alebrijes are Mexico's fantastic, imaginative figures - they are often called "creatures of the dreams and the imagination".  They are hand-carved and hand-painted  of copal wood in Central Mexico in the state of Oaxaca, where I travel regularly to select affordable high quality and imaginative pieces. Oaxaca's wood carvings are collected world-wide and are exhibited in galleries and museums.  This beautiful giraffe is a wonderful carving with lovely painting.  The tail is natural rope. All parts are glued. This  little giraffe stands approximately 4 3/4" tall and 4 " long with tail.  A lovely little signed piece.
