Description

Spectacular one of a kind blue/grey color Donkey with Madonna set by famed woodcarver Gabino Reyes of La Union in Oaxaca State of Mexico. These very collectible Gabino Reyes figures traditionally are painted only in gray.
This was commissioned for us and obtained directly from the artist during a trip to Oaxaca. The 3-dimensional Madonna carved into the belly of the adult jenny is very well carved and painted in the exemplary detail that provides the artist's unparalleled reputation. Of course, the large figure in the set can be displayed in either a grazing position or vertically to show the carving of the Madonna simply by changing how the tail is affixed.
