    This is a fine example of Oaxacan woodcarving, a hand-painted, tall and lean Dingo dog, created by the renowned Tribus Mixes, Oaxacan woodcarvers taller. This one-of-a-kind creation measures 7.5 inches long x 9.5 inches tall.  Note the intricate, finely-detailed painting pattern and the 3D carved eyes. This is a highly-collectable figurine, and it is signed Tribus Mixes. The curled tail detaches.
    HISTORY:
    The carvings from Oaxaca are the most sought-after folk art in Mexico. The artists are proud descendants of the pre-Columbian Zapotec culture. Most of these artisans make their carvings from the twisted branches of the copalillo tree, which grows on the hills around the valley. The wood is lightweight, easily workable, and sands to a fine finish. With their brilliant colors and fine craftsmanship, Oaxacan carvings are a captivating product of talent, imagination and flair. Collectors prize their one-of-a-kind originality. These carvings also have great appeal to followers of the "Buy Handmade" movement.
